Value Added Tax (VAT)
VAT is charged by most businesses operating in Ireland. For some businesses there is an obligation to register. For others, the registration is by choice.
Once registered, all VAT charged by a business must be returned to the Revenue. The VAT charged on a business’ sales can be offset against the VAT charged on the business’ purchases.
The rate of the VAT applied will depend upon the type of goods or services being provided by a business. The standard rate of VAT is 23%.
Payroll Matters can assist in both the registration and the operation of your VAT requirements and VAT returns.
